Counselling

"Discover the Path to Your Personal Growth"

Chrystal Therapy sessions are typically on a weekly basis, lasting 50 minutes each time in short term work over a period of 6-12 sessions with longer session for complicated issues.  At your first consultation we will discuss the possible length of treatment, so that you can make an informed decision about further sessions.

We can make a recommendation as to how many initial sessions you should have, there is no obligation if you feel you don't wish to continue with therapy.

We offer online, telephone and face-to-face sessions to best accommodate your needs, which may fluctuate during the course of therapy.

Your first session with a therapist includes a free 15-minute consultation to identify your current difficulties as well as exploring your expectations of how counselling may be of benefit you.

We want to know your needs so that we can provide the right therapist for you.  Tell us what you need and we will do our best to support you.

Person-centred Therapy

Working with an person-centred counsellor, you will be encouraged to bring your own issues to counselling. The counselling is led by you and not directed by the counsellor.  You will explore your own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour, and worldview. The counsellor offers unconditional positive regard, empathy and congruence to help you come to terms with any negative feelings to change and develop in your own way.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic psychotherapy focuses on the roots of the troubled feelings and worries, rather than addressing only the symptoms. By getting to the root cause, we often find that psychodynamic psychotherapy is more effective and has longer lasting changes than treatments that address symptoms alone.   This form of therapy is commonly used with clients suffering from depression or anxiety diagnosis.

Integrative counselling

We will look at you as a whole, taking into account your physical, emotional and mental needs. Chrystal Therapy therapist will use techniques and tools from different modalities to tailor an individual approach for you.

When you understand the causes of your concerns or triggers for your behaviour, you can confidently set goals and develop new behaviours to improve your satisfaction with life.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

A highly effective, clinically proven treatment for a broad range of mental health and psychological difficulties. A collaborative process between you and the therapist, CBT teaches you the skills to ‘remodel’ your thinking and behaviour in order to move past the difficulties you’re experiencing.   It's most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, although it can be useful for other mental and physical health problems.

Solution-Focused Therapy

We will focus on the present and future, and develop solutions for managing current issues. We will explore ways to help you reach your goals and move towards a more meaningful life.

 Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

We will use mindfulness exercises to help you become more aware of your thoughts and feelings. We will work together to develop strategies to help you better manage your emotions and live a more balanced life.
